The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is pleased to host the 21st Pacific Basin Nuclear Conference (PBNC) and Technology Exhibition under the auspices of the Pacific Nuclear Council. The conference will be held Sept. 30—Oct. 5, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco, Calif. USA.

PBNC2018 will open in just a few weeks, and we are very excited about the conference. We have many great speakers in the opening plenary. U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Chair Kristine Svinicki has just accepted our invitation. She joins Senator James Risch, who is the likely next chair of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Nathan Myhrvold, a reknowned investor in nuclear energy technologies and scientific innovation. Our plenary panels and technical sessions are strong. They’ll be enlightening and interesting. U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry has noted the importance of the conference on C-SPAN here.

If you haven’t registered yet for PBNC2018, the time is now. ANS, the host society, is offering a $100 discount to those who register before August 28. We also have a discounted block of rooms at the Hyatt Regency. Make your reservation now to get the special room rate. And United airlines also is offering discounted travel. Details are on the hotel link. You may want to come early or to stay after the conference to enjoy the many delights of San Francisco and the Bay area.

Looking forward to seeing you at PBNC2018,

Mimi Holland Limbach
Co-Chair, PBNC2018
Immediate Past President, Pacific Nuclear Council
Chair, ANS International Committee

This international conference is a broad-based meeting focused on areas of nuclear energy, engineering and science, and policy issues that accompany nuclear energy programs throughout the Pacific Rim. The meeting is sponsored by the Pacific Nuclear Council and ANS.

The first meeting was held in 1976 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Subsequent meetings have been held about every two years under the joint sponsorship of the Pacific Nuclear Council (PNC) and a sponsoring PNC Member Society. The conferences have played a vital role in providing fora for discussion and information relating to both research and development and to the implementation of nuclear energy technology in the Pacific Basin.

The 21st PBNC will be held in San Francisco, USA (Sept. 30 - Oct. 5, 2018)
